Nursing Assistant
Job Description
- Patient care: Assisting patients with eating, dressing, bathing, and grooming
- Vital signs: Taking and monitoring a patient’s blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
- Medications: Administering medications orally or intravenously
- Wound care: Changing wound dressings and applying bandages
- Patient records: Maintaining accurate patient records, including medical history and allergens
- Communication: Informing nurses, physicians, and family members of changes in a patient’s health status or behavior
- Patient education: Providing patient education and briefing families on post-op instructions
- Medical procedures: Assisting doctors and nurses with medical procedures and managing emergency situations
- Care planning: Participating in patient care planning and following healthcare plans developed by doctors or RNs
- Other tasks: Collecting specimen samples, overseeing Certified Nursing Assistants, and preparing patients for discharge or transfers
